The mark, and how to use it.
A compact reference for the Torch Compass identity. These pages define the shapes, spacing, colors, and exact implementation that keep the mark performing at its best across every surface we ship. Written for designers, marketers, and the developers shipping torchcompass.com.
A torch, held inside a compass.
Four parts, no ornament. The ring is the editorial enclosure. The flame is direction. The spark is the still point the flame leans toward. The negative space in between is deliberate, and it counts as part of the mark.
- 01RingA full 300 unit circle. The editorial enclosure, our horizon, our boundary of trust.
- 02FlameAn asymmetric parallelogram set at 45 degrees. Motion, direction, and warmth inside the compass.
- 03SparkA 19 unit dot at the optical center. The still point the flame is drawn toward.
- 04NegativeA cut-out interior between ring and flame. This breathing room is part of the mark; do not fill it.
Give the mark room to breathe.
Clearspace is defined as x, equal to the radius of the spark at the center of the mark. Nothing (type, image, edge) may enter this zone. Below minimum size, switch to the favicon construction.

Ember, ink, compass, paper.
The mark is rendered in one of four approved colors. Torch ember is the character color, reserved for moments where the motif earns its warmth. Ink and compass navy carry the mark in most functional contexts. Paper is the reversed mark on dark or color surfaces.
Three lockups. One voice.
The mark pairs with the Fraunces wordmark in two arrangements, or stands alone. The italic Compass carries torch-ember; the roman Torch sits in ink. Wordmark x-height aligns to the spark of the mark.
Where the mark lives.
Always pair the mark with a background that holds at least 4.5:1 contrast. Avoid busy photography unless the mark sits on a solid caption bar. Below are the approved ground rules.
Eight ways to break the mark.
The symbol is a closed system. Its proportions, colors, and negative space are fixed. The following modifications are not permitted in any context.
The smallest stage.
At 16px the mark still reads, but only with the right plate. Light browsers get the Ink glyph on Paper; dark browsers and iOS dark-mode tabs get the Torch-Soft glyph on Ink. Always ship the full icon manifest: ico, svg, png, and a maskable variant for installed PWAs.
Files, formats, and where to find them.
